Navigating the maze of Cognitive Decline:

Prevention, Detection and Treatment

5-8 October 2023

Presented By Dr Joe Shafer and Dr Chris Astill-Smith

Mantra Legends Hotel,

Cnr Surfers Paradise Blvd & Laycock Street, Surfers Paradise, QLD 4217, Australia

Cognitive decline (CD) is an insidious pandemic that is growing exponential on a global level. It Millions of people worldwide are now affected. The origins of CD are complex, which makes it far from understood. Thus, effective treatment options lag even farther behind. Effective intervention for CD is rapidly becoming increasingly important, not only for the elderly, but for the young as well, because decline can begin 30 to 40 years prior to its diagnosis. This 4 day seminar will introduce new methodologies for CD diagnosis and treatment.
Innovative protocols from the Brain Recovery Academy will be combined with cutting-edge nutritional interventions developed by Epigenetics founder, Chris Astill-Smith. In a cohesive program, the practitioner will be provided with the fundamental tools needed for diagnosis and nootropic enhancement of neural health that stimulate CD recovery.

Joseph Shafer will discuss:
Since its early use in 2018, of Brain Recovery (BR) protocols have become much more specific and based on functional neurologic examinations. Specific techniques for diagnosing axonal damage at the cortical and brain stem levels have been developed and successfully employed on many patients. Cognitive decline may is often due aquired brain injury or metabolic
disequilibrium, but often both. Dr. Shafer’s lecture will emphasize diagnostic inputs that enable the practitioner to evaluate specific areas having cognitive decline that, once identified, lead to a specific nutritive intervention.
BR testing methods will be coupled with Epigenitics isodes for specific brain-site decline identification and therapeutic intervention. The combination of specific BR diagnostic protocols will help the clinician identify best nootropic products for recovery.

Chris Astill-Smith (via video recording) will discuss:
Current therapies have been slow to address the obvious degradation in brain wiring which forms the basis of neural decline and, thus, cognitive decline. It is similar to the wiring within a computer, if the wiring fails to conduct properly, any computer-generated outcome will defective, as well.
Simply said, the brain is no different. When the integrated and coherent wiring is in decline, logical brain outcomes become spurious at best. Regrettably, to date, standard medical intervention has yet to address this loss of this wiring which is a critical factor in the evolution in cognitive deficit.
Ignoring the influence of this massive ‘bull elephant’ can seriously reduce chances of positive change in CD recovery. Natural compounds found in the brain, like BDNF and NGF, have been shown to actually stimulate synaptic growth. Therefore, the loss of brain ‘wiring’ is a common denominator and specific polyphenolic plant compounds that have been shown to modulate synaptic plasticity will be taught. Not only may the decline be slowed, these compounds may
actually enrich restoration of previously lost synapses. Thereby, degenerated wiring may improve and, eventually, recover.
